Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice
One of the most controversial topics that currently exists in the world; is circulating around one word and all it represents, which is abortion. To put a name to that topic it is Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice. What is Pro-Life or Pro-Choice, especially in its relation to abortion? In this blog post my objective is to best attempt to define abortion, Pro-Life, Pro-Choice and finally give my opinion.
What is abortion? According to Oxford Learners Dictionary abortion "is the deliberate ending of a pregnancy at an early stage." Abortions can be committed chemically via pill; this causes the woman's period to come earlier than usual which results in the discharge of the endometrium and embryo. Or abortions can be done surgically via an operation.
Now the controversy, that has surrounded this topic is on one side being for Pro-Choice and the other for Pro-Life. Now what really is Pro-Life and Pro-Choice? Pro-Life in its basis means that you are against abortion because the views held are that life begins at the moment of fertilization. This means when the sperm and the egg fuse causing the egg to be fertilized and commencing the formation of human life. Therefore, when the act of abortion is committed, it is an act of murder. Whereas the views of Pro-Choice is that abortions are perfectly fine. Abortions can happen because life begins when an individual is born. Furthermore, it is the woman's body so therefore she has the right to choose whether she continues with the pregnancy or not.
My opinion, falls within the favor of Pro-Life, which is influenced for numerous reasons. One being the Roman Catholic Church, I stand with Catholic Church's stance which strictly is that human life is must be respected and protected from the first moment of its existence to the last moment. The first moment being natural conception to the last being natural death. It is agreeable that the first moment of a human life is the from the first moment of formation in the womb. A pregnant woman can be referred to as host while the fetus be referred to as a parasite. In the sense that, the child has to live off the mother as parasite would of its host. Therefore, through the lens of biology, the mother and fetus have a parasitic symbiosis relationship, which involves two organisms.
Furthermore, to break this relationship at least one organism has to terminated. It is agreeable then that the termination of human life can never be supported under any means because it is a gruesome, inhumane act.
I agree with your views on Pro-Life. I would not speak badly to those who want to abort their children, but I myself would not take that action. Even before birth, the baby is considered living and abortion is murder so yes I agree with your point.
